Cadet Band

Welcome to the Cadet Band  Program at Colin Powell Middle School!! We have a rich tradition of musical excellence.  Cadet Band is comprised of 6th and 7th graders who have passed an audition to gain entrance into the group.  We perform at 2-3 competitions per year, play 2 concerts here at CPMS, and also travel to Six Flags Great America to perform at the Music in the Parks festival every May. 

 

Students in this group must have at least a year of prior playing experience.  After school rehearsals are every TUESDAY from 2:30-4:00pm.  A student with 3 or more unexcused absences from Rehearsal is ONLY allowed to perform at the Band Directors’ discretion.  We expect all members of the Cadet Band to attend every rehearsal and performance with NO EXCEPTIONS.  We provide students and parents with a list of Important Dates at the beginning of the school year; please plan vacations and events accordingly. 

 

Cadet Band Parents must provide:

• White, long-sleeved, wing-tip Tuxedo shirt with vertical pleats
• Black Dress Pants
• Black Socks
• Black Shoes

The School will loan you:

• Band Vest
• Bow Tie
