PreKindergarten Students
- Parents sign up for a screening via the website link.
- Please wait to be contacted via email to schedule a screening appointment. Communication will come via email within 1-2 weeks before the screening date.
- If selected for screening, parents will attend a screening session with their scholar after receiving confirmation via email. Please note: documents below will be needed on the day of screening.
- If eligible, parents will be offered a seat in the program after the screening and informed to complete the PowerSchool registration process.
- Once registration is confirmed in PowerSchool, the preschool office will inform parents about the scholar’s school, class placement, and start date. Confirmation will be sent via email.

Kindergarten Students
Registration for KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS NEW TO ESD 159 will be open from Monday, March 17, 2025, through Friday, April 11, 2025. NEW students must be registered using this link.
Registration for KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS WHO COMPLETED PRE-K with ESD 159 will be open from Monday, March 17, 2025, through Friday, April 11, 2025. Please use your parent portal to register. RETURNING students must be registered through parent portal.
Document Drop-off: Kindergarten families are invited to drop off all required documents on May 14 and May 15, 2025, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at their child's school. Residency MUST be proven for all new kindergarten students
Kindergarten Screening Assessment: During the document drop-off in May, parents of incoming kindergarten students will schedule an appointment for their child's mandatory screening assessment. This screening assessment will occur at their home school on June 3, 2025, or June 4, 2025.
Registration Requirement: All new kindergarten students must be fully registered before taking the screening assessment.

New Students (Grades 1-8)

Registration for NEW STUDENTS (Grades 1 - 8) will be open from Monday, March 17, 2025, through Friday, June 26, 2025. Please click here for the link.
Document Submission: New students must provide proof of residency and required documents
between July 22nd - July 23rd (9 am - 2 pm) and July 24th (3 pm - 7 pm). Your registration is only complete once your school approves your documents. Residency MUST be proven for All NEW STUDENTS.
Document Drop-Off: To complete the registration process, bring all documents to your child's school between July 22rd and July 23rd (9 am—2 pm) and July 24th (3 pm—7 pm). Make sure to deliver the documents to the school your child will attend.
Special Note for Neil Armstrong and Sieden Prairie Families: Due to a planned facilities update, families of Neil Armstrong and Sieden Prairie students should drop off the required documents at Colin Powell Middle School on July 22nd-July 23rd (9am - 2pm) OR July 24th (3pm - 7pm).

All ESD 159 residency checks may be subject to a home visit if residency can’t be verified.
Students must reside within our school boundaries to attend Matteson Elementary School District 159. We serve parts of Tinley Park, Richton Park, and Matteson. This is in accordance with Illinois School Code 105 5/10-20.12b, which states, "If a pupil is determined to be a nonresident of the district for whom tuition is required to be charged according to this Section, the board shall refuse to permit the pupil to continue attending the schools of the district unless the required tuition is paid for the pupil."

Immunization Requirement: Registration for grades 2, and 6 will be considered complete once immunization records are submitted to the school nurse.
Immunization Document Drop-Off: Immunization records can be dropped off at your child's school between July 22nd - July 23rd (9 am - 2 pm) and July 24th (3 pm - 7 pm). Immunization records need to be updated for the 25 - 26 school year.
