Homebound/Hospital Tutoring

Homebound Instruction (Illinois)

For students who are medically unable to attend school due to illness or injury. A doctor’s note is required, and services are temporary to help the student keep up with schoolwork until they can return.

Home-Based Instruction (Illinois)
For students who need instruction outside of school for other reasons, such as IEP services, 504 plans, or disciplinary actions. A doctor’s note is not always required, and services may be short- or longer-term based on the student’s needs.

Key Difference:
Homebound = medical and temporary
Home-based = broader reasons, not always medical
