Welcome to the CPMS Choir

Welcome to the Colin Powell Middle School Choir!  The choir offers two programs for interested students: the Nouveau Choir for 6th graders and the Concert Choir. 

Nouveau Choir

Interested 6th grade singers may wish to join this award winning group. This class provides an opportunity for students to develop their vocal ability and learn to sing a variety of popular and cultural music. This is a graded class that meets daily and requires some evening and weekend performances. 60% of the grade is from daily activities in the classroom and 40% of the grade is based on performances with the choir. There is a one-time fee for the uniform. No audition is required to join.

Concert Choir

Is a year-long graded class.   60% of the grade is from daily activities in the classroom and 40% of the grade is based on performances with the choir (test grades).

Interested and talented singers must audition to join this group. This class provides an opportunity for students to continue to develop their vocal ability, learn sight-singing, read music and perform a variety of popular and cultural music. Each student must comply with all rules and regulations within the choir handbook. The student agrees to attend after school rehearsals and all performances. Entrance into this choir is through audition only. Some Evening and Saturday performances are a requirement for this course. There is a one-time fee for the uniform.
