Matteson Elementary School District 159 welcome to New Elementary School District 159 Community STEM Center the first of its kind in the region the new community stems that are starting construction in 2021 on District on land and will give District 159 Scholars and the community the opportunity to take part and enrichment programming we have a moral imperative as a school district to provide our sky with the opportunity to be part of the coming future stem professional and it starts right here at the community center will offer student staff and Community spaces for open stem and gay and provide professional development and build capacity of teachers to instruct rigorous and robust them lesson it'll also increase equity and inclusion in stem by providing students with much-needed exposure to stem experience it research shows that minorities are grossly underrepresented in STEM related careers we have high-quality instruction we have high-quality opportunities and we have all of these wonderful resources and this Center this is where it's going to start we want to spark their interest in becoming a scientist or in technology or engineering or mathematics but we want to start it right here this will provide us with the opportunity to give our kids just that Guild that'll be learned in a Makerspace lab include Electronics 3D printing 3D modeling coding Robotics and woodworking in Aerospace in atmospheric science what consists of Aviation flight simulation rocketry in drone technology the school district will also implement the curriculum from National Air and Space Education Institute in and work with hands on our projects in the classroom some things that they typically wouldn't work on in their classrooms at doing the regular day I'm excited about the opening of this them send them because this gives us a chance to be Hands-On learning and as well as us when the bed is better for us to be Hands-On so that way we can stand about it I think it's important for me and my classmates to have a stem Center because it opens up new beginning and it's like good to know that we can like learn more things about stem the community to create and maintain a twenty-first-century learn environment so that students are provided every opportunity for a successful education and future career is going to provide opportunities for all of our students of all ages from pre-k to 8th grade fins on their age what developmentally what they were engage and we have Makerspace we have a force computers we will have activities creating robot but we're really meeting students where they are Madison Elementary School District 159 and superintendent dr. Tiffany Brunson are committed to the success of the stem Center and believe the students deserve every opportunity to STEM Center gives to expand their Horizon we are so excited to have partnership with Amazon Amazon future engineers and boot up to 27 FFA which is the Future Farmers of America that will help us to bring agricultural education to our students Cook County Farm Bureau Greenup Planet Aldi and last but definitely not least our Rich Township community we thank you so much for your support thank you very much to our taxpayers and the vision of what we can offer our and it starts here and I just I'm just very thankful and very grateful that we have this here in our community thank you all so much for being here it is truly an honor and a pleasure to be here by very special occasion to open up our Civic Center that we are very excited to produce for our students as well as our community are sad our community this is was something we get on the board only 4 years old for your support from us and our support from you we are going to move Matthew Sims 4 you are you are are amazing together and together we can move mountains exciting exciting to have this new stamp center right here in the village of Matteson it is going to be here for our children as we grow and move forward these are exciting times for us I am excited to be a part of this historic event I'm are Rick Reinbold from the village in Richton Park just excited to be here tonight for the grand opening of the stem Center for 159 this is truly a testament to the leadership open vision of the board for 159 to not only had this Vision but to get a referendum passed in very difficult times that is a testament to the trust that the community has in the leadership so excited for the village of Matteson Center and also the village of Richton Park this is very unique to the Southland and I'm sure others will try to replicate it in the future but 159 will always be the first reading this is congresswoman Robin Kelly of Illinois 2nd congressional district I'm so excited to be here 159 STEM Center this is the greatest thing because we have to make sure are young people are fully prepared for jobs now but also jobs of the future so I can 10159 off of putting the stem Center together and I just know the kids will benefit so greatly from this self-congratulation 159
