Congratulations to Our Retirees

On May 29th Superintendent Alfred and Board of Education members President, Dr. William McClinton, Vice-President Mrs. Carolyn Palmer, Ms. Debra Ellis and Mrs. Regina Edgecombe made surprise visits to our 9 retirees to thank them for their contributions to our school district. The retirees received gifts and yard signs were placed in each of their yards.

Virtual Summer School

Join our first virtual summer program where every student in District 159 have the opportunity to sharpen their skills, engage in fun learning tasks and participate in a range of enrichment activities. Students will experience weekly virtual field trips, hands-on science for middle school students and book studies at each grade level. Enrichment courses: Piano lessons, The Making of a Band, Sign Language that will include a choir and Spanish Classes.

Colin Powell Middle School Class of 2020 "Soaring To New Heights"

This year has been quite a challenge for our 8th graders but they continued to soar like eagles! We will celebrate the Class of 2020 with a virtual graduation next Friday, May 22nd at 6:00pm. The graduation can be seen on YouTube, Facebook, and the Villages of Richton Park and Matteson's Comcast public access channel 4.
Look for the congratulatory yards signs throughout our Elementary School District 159 community next week!

Update Regarding Class of 2020 Graduation

The decision to move to a virtual graduation ceremony was made in light of the current stay-at-home orders, social distancing requirements and restrictions on large gatherings. Click on link above for additional information

Grab and Go Update - Tuesday, May 12th

Beginning on Tuesday, May 12th, Elementary School District 159 will resume providing breakfast and hot lunches at Colin Powell Middle School, as well as breakfast and ready to eat cold lunch meals at each elementary school.

Carolyn's Kids Scholarship Opportunity

Carolyn’s Kids goal is to provide supports to students in grades Pre-K-8th, in hopes to enhance their academic, social, and emotional growth ...their way of “Helping Children Move Right Along.”
