Early dismissal from the School Day

In an extremely rare instance, when school is to be dismissed early, (e.g. power failure, etc.) parents and/or guardians or emergency person will be notified of the decision.  Under no circumstances will a child be released early from a school unless permission has been granted.

The Matteson, Richton Park, Tinley Park Police and Fire Departments, as well as the above radio and TV stations will be notified in the event of an early dismissal for any of the schools.  Sufficient school personnel will remain at each of the buildings to supervise those students for whom a  parent/guardian contact was not made.  For students who receive bus transportation, this service will be provided in the event of an early dismissal.

Emergency Extension of the School Day

Emergency conditions (e.g. tornado watch, bad weather, etc.) may arise near the regular dismissal time that would require keeping students in the school building to insure student safety.  If this occurs, students will be kept until dismissal is deemed safe.  Parents  may listen to the above radio and TV stations for new bulletins, or contact the student's home school.  Bus routes will operate as close to the normal schedule as permitted.
